E-Levy Removed – Here’s What It Means for You

Starting April 2, 2025, the 1% charge on electronic money transfers (E-Levy) will no longer apply.

This follows a decision by Parliament to cancel the law that introduced the E-Levy. What this means for you:
You can now send money via MoMo or bank transfers without paying the 1% E-Levy.

What’s Changing?

  • The 1% E-Levy charge on MoMo and bank transfers is now removed.
  • You can send money without E-Levy deductions.

 

FAQs

🔹 Do I need to do anything?
No. The change is automatic. You’ll stop seeing E-Levy charges from April 2.

🔹 What if I’m charged by mistake?
Any wrong E-Levy charges from April 2 onward will be refunded within 7 days.

🔹 Will I still pay MoMo fees?
Yes. Regular mobile money service fees still apply.

🔹 Will past E-Levy charges be refunded?
No. Charges before April 2, 2025, will not be refunded.
